Jeevarasam: Consecrate Drinking Water At Home
Jeevarasam has been specifically designed by Sadhguru as a simple way to energize your water. Drinking this water throughout the day as regular drinking water helps bring harmony and balance to the system.
What is Jeevarasam?
Jeevarasam is a small oval-shaped burnished metal container, with a metal serpent coiled around it in a protective position. It is filled with energized vibhuti. Vibhuti is sacred ash, consecrated at Dhyanalinga at the Isha Yoga Center. Each Jeevarasam goes through a process of consecration before becoming available for purchase.
Jeevarasam has been specifically designed by Sadhguru as a simple way to energize your water. Drinking this water throughout the day as regular drinking water helps bring harmony and balance to the system. This water can also be used in poojas as Teerth.
Guidelines for use.
To set up the Jeevarasam, make sure there is sufficient vibhuti inside by gently twisting the Jeevarasam to unscrew it. Add vibhuti if needed and tighten the two parts back together. All Jeevarasam come prefilled with vibhuti for your first use. The Jeevarasam should be re-filled with vibhuti once empty.
For maximum benefits, use Jeevarasam in a copper vessel. Vessels made of natural materials, such as mud or clay can also be used. Whichever vessel you use, make sure the Jeevarasam is fully submerged in the water at all times.
A minimum quantity of 1 litre and a maximum of 25 litres of water must be used with one Jeevarasam. The Jeevarasam may not stand straight when submerged in water; that is okay. Within a period of 3 hours, your water will be consecrated.
The Jeevarasam must not be immersed in hot water. If you wish to boil water before drinking, wait for the water to return to room temperature before putting in the Jeevarasam.
Unnecessary movement of the Jeevarasam must be avoided. The Jeevarasam should always be placed in a water container that will remain stationery and must not be carried while traveling, like in a water bottle.
With regular use, Jeevarasam must be refilled with vibhuti approximately every 6 months. You can refill vibhuti more often if needed.
Guidelines for maintenance
Jeevarasam must be cleaned only on occasion and not frequently. Only consecrated vibhuti from the Isha Yoga Center must be used for this purpose.
To clean, gently rub vibhuti on the surface and then clean with a dry cotton cloth.
Cleaning should be limited only to the top part which contains the vibhuti. Do not attempt to clean the bottom part of the Jeevarasam.
Soap, lemon or tamarind should not be used for cleaning as this could work against the metal and lead to corrosion. It is important to note that darkening of copper is a natural process and it is best to leave it this way.
When not in use, the Jeevarasam should be stored in a bag of raw (uncooked) rice, in such a way that it is completely covered. Before storing, ensure that it is fully dry as any traces of retained water may cause the rice to unnecessarily stick to the copper or cause a reaction. Drying it in the sun is ideal.
The Jeevarasam can last perpetually if proper care is taken, and no physical damage occurs.
